Texas Instruments is investing 100 million dollars on Mobile Device Architecture  under Open Multimedia Applications Platform (OMAP) or 3G.

Features & Functionality 

  • Support 3G networks 

  • Supports Symbian's EPOC and Microsoft Windows CE as well as Sun's J2ME

  • Handspring, Nokia and Ericsson plan to develop devices based on OMAP by the end of 2001. 

Competing Products or Development Environments

  • Native tools from EPOC, Microsoft and Sun
