Wireless Office Phone System
Applications
Traditional offices have wired telephones
tied to their desks. New breed of wireless telephone systems give
users the flexibility of carrying their telephone with them as they walk
around the building and even outside. A few telecommunications companies are
marketing a single phone that works with both in-house telephone systems and
external wide area digital telephone networks. As wireless networks
servicing voice and data applications converge with IP networks across the
Internet, one can envision a situation where you need to carry only one
telephone handset whether you are inside the office or outside the office
using the Internet as a long distance carrier. In future, MobileInfo expects
Smart phones and some PDAs will be able to communicate with in-house wireless
phone systems. Nokia's 9110 Communicator already has basic device capabilities
to communicate with external wireless GSM networks. It does not require
tremendous imagination to make it work with internal wireless
systems.
Several vendors provide wireless office phone
systems. One such vendor is AGCS - a
Lucent subsidiary with their ROAMEO
Wireless Office Phone System.
