Now there are a number workgroup applications that are being developed on messaging platforms like Microsoft Exchange or Lotus's  Domino Server. These applications allow members of a workgroup to access information on workgroup calendaring (scheduling meetings), status of collaborative projects, research and development, time and expense reporting, customer service and other activities where multiple members of a workgroup participate in approval process.
