January 21 – Scandic Hotels Use Nokia’s WAP Solution For Booking Rooms

Scandi Hotels, a Scandinavian hotel chain, is utilizes Nokia’s WAP solution to address the hotel industry’s mission-critical operation – reservation service.  Nokia offers the hotel chain a complete end-to-end WAP solution, which includes the first Nokia 7110, the WAP 1.1 compliant phone with NaviRoller user interface, allowing for fast and convenient access to WAP server.  Nokia WAP Server 1.0 is an open server platform for mobile applications that allows enterprises to maintain control over end-to-end security of data access and customer traffic between wireless network and Internet or their own network.  WAP technology is ideal for a reservation service as it gives instant benefit to a hotel by integrating the WAP service with their existing service infrastructure. As early-adapters of a hotel booking WAP service, Scandi Hotels are surely setting a precedent for other hotel chains to follow.
