MERGERS, INVESTMENTS AND AGREEMENTS

MobileSpring, a newly formed company based in New York, is planning to develop a number of mobile technology ventures focused on wireless internet applications.

The organization is led by some of the most experienced executives in the industry, such as Omnipoint co-founder Mark Caron, and has attracted investment from a wide range of respected sources, including i-Hatch, the investment vehicle of former Bertelsmann Online President and CEO Chip Austin. MobileSpring will incubate a number of companies over the course of the next year, developing organizations from a variety of projects involving mobile internet technologies. These include a wireless banking application, a mobile internet portal and a commercial gateway for e-mail and information service deployment on US cellular and PCS networks. As the ventures develop, MobileSpring will spin them off, enabling them to continue their growth as separate companies. MobileSpring will utilize the extensive technological, marketing and business development expertise of its executive and advisory boards as its primary asset.

"Our goal is to deploy services that fundamentally change how people that are mobile get work done, make transactions, and interact with one another. This requires the services to be available across multiple wireless networks and be optimized for various wireless devices," commented MobileSpring President Mark Caron. "It also requires an intense focus on the human behavior issues. We will draw on our many years of real-world experience with wireless internet services to make sure we exceed users' expectations."
