Symbol Technology, Epic Data Deliver Java and XML Technology to the Global Wireless Data Market

At the Symbol Software Developers Conference in June, Symbol Technologies, Inc. and Epic Data International Inc. will jointly launch Epic Data's Java based eXpresso application development toolkit for Symbol handheld computers.

eXpresso is a Java and XML-based wireless application development environment and programming interface for creating and enabling mobile corporate applications.  Its toolkit enables developers to re-use an application code across the entire system of Symbol mobile computing devices.  Programs written in eXpresso are portable across thin and thick client devices, including Windows® Pocket PC, Palm OS, DOS and Micro-Java based systems. It is designed to integrate wireless client devices with an XML partner interface. It is both operating system independent and device independent and supports application development and deployment on Windows NT®, UNIX® and Linux®. Future releases of eXpresso will support WAP-enabled devices.

For manufacturing, retail, logistics, healthcare, government and education, eXpresso greatly reduces implementation costs for delivering  integrated mobile supply chain applications.
