Certicom Announces VPN Security Client for Mobile and Wireless Devices

For corporations that have installed VPN, Certicom’s has announced its news offering of a VPN handheld client, a VPN solution designed for mobile and wireless devices. Certicom's handheld will interoperate with a wide range of popular VPN systems. The solution will allow mobile workers to easily and securely access corporate mission-critical data.

Initially, Certicom solutions will interoperate with VPN products from:

  • Alcatel
  • Axent Technologies Inc.
  • Check Point
  • Cisco
  • Enterasys Networks (formerly Cabletron)
  • Intel Corp.
  • Nortel Networks
  • Spring Tide Networks

Certicom VPN client supports:

  • IPSec (industry standard for secure VPN), with future versions being compatible with Certicom’s Trustpoint PKI products and the MobileTrust CA service as well as smart card technology.
  • A Wide range of encryption algorithms, enabling interoperability with legacy based VPN products.
  • Certicom’s ECC for the new generation of mobile focused VPN.
  • Palm OS version 3.5, with WinCE and EPOC support to follow.
  • Aether Software’s ScoutWave products will enhance security of mobile applications.

During the summer, Certicom and partners will release a beta version with an expected full VPN handheld client later this year.
