Ericsson, Charles Schwab in Alliance to Develop WAP-Based Trading Services

Ericsson and Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. recently formed a global technology alliance to enhance the functionality of Schwab’s wireless investment services. The two companies will jointly undertake

  • R&D activities, such as co-developing and delivering trading application based on WAP
  • Designing and marketing targeted Internet applications using mobile phones

Schwab will leverage Ericsson’s Mobile E-Pay security platform to deliver wireless investing globally. The investment company’s objective is to provide its international customers mobile global access to investment tools, account information and trading capabilities using virtually any wireless device. Currently, Schwab is in the advance testing stage with a solution for its Hong Kong market and is developing applications for other markets.
