Nextel Launches Nextel Online for Businesses

Nextel Communications, Inc. launched its Nextel Online Two-Way Messaging Service, designed specifically for businesses. With the addition of two-way messaging to Nextel Online, mobile workers can now use their Internet-enabled Nextel plus phone (promoted as a four-in-one wireless business communication tool) for telephony, paging, Internet, email and messaging.

Nextel Online Two-Way Messaging features the following:

  • A pre-programmed reply allowing customers to respond with the push of one button
  • Word recognition capabilities using Tegic T9 software that enables the creation of messages using the phone’s keypad
  • Ability to store and retrieve messaging addresses on the phone
  • Ability to send a message and attach replies
  • Ability to check the status of sent messages and receive replies
  • Personalized storage of preset message replies
  • Group addressing that allows Nextel Online customers to send one message to large workgroups such as a sales force team
  • Schedule a message for a time and date in the future

Nextel will be expanding its Nextel Online Wireless Data Network to enhance services to business customers, including

  • Online productivity solutions such as List Manager, which allows customers to manage their Nextel phone lists, Nextel Direct Connect private ID, and group lists from their PC or from their Internet-enabled Nextel phone
  • Business applications and connectivity solutions to move data instantly between mobile workers and their headquarters
