OracleMobile Launches an Interactive E-Mail Information Service

To compliment its mobile portal, Oraclemobile.com, OracleMobile, a subsidiary of Oracle Corp., has introduced a wireless Internet service Ask@OracleMobile that allows any two-way wireless messaging device to access Internet content without a browser. The service is designed to enable users of mobile devices that are not equipped with a Web-browser or WAP to access its mobile portal.

What is attractive about the Oracle model is that it allows all of its applications and content partners to use the same platform to reach many devices. For the mobile professional who needs timely access to Web content, Ask@OracleMobile is simple to use. For example, users can send an email to Ask@OracleMobile using keywords such as stocks, traffic or flight in the subject or body or message and in seconds receive the requested information. Services currently available include stock quotes, traffic, and flight information, driving directions, dictionary translation, UPS tracking and weather, with others to follow.

Through partnerships with Metrocell, a data and messaging company, and RIM via its Blackberry pager, Nextel will promote Ask@OracleMobile to expand its customer base.
