How it Works Berks Communications Center will use AT&T Wireless CDPD service to instantly connect laptops via TotalRoam to each department’s patrol vehicles. Instead of relying on radio dispatchers for critical information, the county’s police force will use PacketCluster Patrol’s standard-based application with the TotalRoam routing platform to wirelessly link laptop computers mounted in over 1,000 patrol vehicles to access information from a variety of sources, including:
The new law enforcement solution will also provide the force with AVL capabilities and will support emerging wireless services such as enhanced voice, imaging, high-speed data, and Internet access as well as the addition of digital cameras, breathalyzers, and scanners.
