Odyssey Software Enables Produce Buying/Selling/Shipping on Pocket PC

Odyssey Software will provide buyproduce.com, a B2B digital marketplace for the produce industry, its CEfusion, a set of remote data access tools, for creating transactions on the Pocket PC platform. The solution provides real-time order management using Casio Pocket PCs with digital cameras, bar code scanners, and Windows DNA technologies for hosting middle-tier business logic components, as well as Windows 2000 and BackOffice services for database infrastructure.

Instead of using the conventional clip-borads in the shipping and receiving process, Pocket PCs will be used to scan and track inventory, capture digital images, and transmit shipment records to the buyproduce.com site. Using their Pocket PC device, buyers will be able to complete the process as follows:

Download shipment records over the Internet,
View the photos of produce taken by the shipper
Record any shipping problems
Notify sellers in real-time of receipt, by uploading their data to the buyproduce.com Web site

Buyproduce.com’s development team, who have a level of expertise with Win32 tools, were able to build robust applications very rapidly using CEfusion because it extends Windows DNA technologies – ADO, MTS, and MSMQ – to the application development environment.

The B2B marketplace company felt that Odyssey’s solution would allow their customers and partners to focus on building their business relationships rather than correcting errors and performing redundant activities.
