XcelleNet Launches New Java Client for Afaria

XcelleNet, Inc. has announced the availability of the Afaria™Java Client for its Afaria family of management solutions.

This latest offering expands Afaria solutions to provide management functionality, such as software distribution, asset tracking and content delivery backup, to systems running Linux, HP-UX, Sun Solaris and other Unix-based operating systems. For example, from a central location, IT managers can now reach out mobile devices on a wide range of platforms as well as enterprise servers and workstations.

As manufacturers continue to develop and deploy new applications and services using, the recently announced, Java™2Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME™) for a mobile handheld devices, XcelleNet will be in a position to offer organizations the tools to manage full spectrum of IT resources and servers.

Afaria family of solutions offers a suite of management capabilities including software distribution, inventory, file transfer, event management and backup across a wide spectrum of mobile devices based on Windows, Palm OS, Pocket PC or RIM Blackberry, or JAVA platforms.
