Centura Software Launches eSNAPP 2.0 Connectivity Server and db.star Database

To complete its mobile solution, Centura Software Corp. has launched two new products: eSNAPP 2.0 Connectivity Server and db.star database.

eSNAPP Connectivity Server 2.0
Its eSNAPP connectivity server extends mission critical data to handheld computing devices or intelligent devices. This server-centric computing product makes enterprise data and business logic available to Palm OS, Windows CE, and Linux devices.

Enhanced Features

  • Programmable Messaging Services notify a designated user that business-critical changes to enterprise data have been made.
  • Security is based on triple DES 128-bit encryption technology, making end-to-end data access and data storage possible.
  • Palm OS support will enable Palm devices to connect and communicate to the organization as well as to each other.
  • COM/DCOM object supports real-time access to applications anywhere on the enterprise.

db.star
In addition, the company recently launched its db.star™, an open source, embeddable data management solution for handheld devices. This secure, high-performance database is designed to run on the Pocket PC, Palm, and Linux operating systems. It is ideal for application developers as it sports the following features:

  • Over 150 C functions provide the functionality required to streamline the development cycle.
  • Ultra-small footprint allows for high-performance data management in resource constrained environments.
  • Lock Manager, which integrates Centura’s SafeGarde technology, manages each transaction, ensuring data integrity and security, especially when multiple applications are being executed concurrently.

According to the company, eSNAPP and db.star work together to securely extend data from back-end systems to smart devices, ensuring that the right data is kept on the right device.
