ACQUISITIONS, MERGERS & AGREEMENTS

Psion to Acquire Teklogix for $544 Million

Psion PLC announced that it would acquire Teklogix International Inc. for $544 million, subject to fiduciary duties.

According to Psion, Teklogix’s expertise in local wireless integration will provide it with the competitive edge that it requires. The company also expects to expand in to such sectors as education and enterprise, as well as industrial and logistics.

Teklogix’s strong international customer base would enhance Psion’s geographic and customer reach. The combination of businesses would provide a complementary fit of wireless technologies from wireless IEEE standard 802.11 and Bluetooth to access to Symbian’s EPOC technology.

Psion will create an enterprise division that combines both businesses, but Teklogix will keep its name and its headquarters in Canada.
