VitalCom Announced its PatientNet Wireless Network

VitalCom Inc. has announced its PatientNet Wireless Network™. This microcellular spread spectrum system is compliant with the FCC’s recently announced Wireless Medical Telemetry Service (WMTS) rules.

PatientNet Wireless Network is a multi-purpose, multi-frequency wireless network that serves as the infrastructure to integrate existing and emerging healthcare applications. According to the company, the network will provide hospitals with the underlying infrastructure to achieve organization-wide improvements in connectivity, patient flow, resource utilization, and cost savings.

VitalCom’s PatientNet Wireless Network includes the following:

A reliable, spread spectrum link for patient physiological information, utilizing antenna diversity, retransmission on error, and transmitter power control.
Scalability to support thousands of patients on a single network, enabling hospitals to address increasing capacity demands as needed.
Seamless roaming between RF access points, enabling patients to be monitored wirelessly anywhere throughout the organization, including during in-hospital and patient transfers.
Access point technology, including communication over Ethernet with network infrastructure sharing, enabling different wireless LANs to share network patient information wirelessly.
