Intermec Launches New Mobile Field Service Management Package

For field service companies looking to automating their current paper-based business process, Intermec has launched a new mobile workforce management package, ArciTech, comprising of software, hardware, integration, and training services.

ArciTech software guides the technician, step-by-step, through the process of managing his schedule, tracking status changes, ordering parts, recording invoices, capturing signatures, collecting and reconciling payments, and printing receipts and reports.

Features:

  • Software runs on Windows CE/95/98 platforms.
  • Software operates on rugged mobile computers including the Intermec® 602 palm-sized and the Intermec® 6110 handheld units.
  • The package can be customized to fit the business process of service organizations in industries such as gas and electric utilities, telecommunications, electronics, OEMs, and ISOs.
  • ArciTech utilizes Centra’s RealTime Database Manager™ (RDM).
      • RDM stores customer data on the pen-based computer for the mobile worker to access and update.
      • It is a Windows-based compact database built for applications that require fast performance and small disk storage thus allowing service technicians to complete work regardless of connectivity to enterprise.
      • Data gathered and stored in RDM throughout the day is then transmitted to the central database where customer information, financial, and inventory are updated.

Mobileinfo Comments and Advisory: Intermec has a lot of experience in this space. It is good to see it provide Windows CE alternative.
