Xypoint Launches Beta Testing of Advanced E-mail Service

NOMAD™ is a new wireless e-mail service that has recently launched into beta testing. Unlike other wireless services, NOMAD’s service enables any wireless user to keep their present e-mail address and wireless phone number. Using any digital wireless phone, mobile workers can access their corporate email through a voice and text messaging technology. The service is powered by Xypoint’s wireless network technology.

How the NOMAD Service Works

  • Users require a Web registration and a digital phone.
  • E-mail alerts will notify customers of a new message identifying the sender and subject.
  • Users have the option of listening to the e-mail message and replying to it by speaking into their phone.
  • The service automatically synchronizes the user’s PC e-mail inbox if the message was deleted, read, replied, or forwarded.

This service operates behind the firewall making Microsoft Outlook™ and other e-mail applications fully accessible to all network users through their wireless phone. For this reason, large corporations and businesses that use network servers will benefit from NOMAD’s service.

In the future, NOMAD users will have access to travel conditions, localized weather, and other relevant information. In addition, corporate users will be able to take advantage of such features as

  • Locating and managing members of workgroups
  • Instant messaging
  • A calendar
  • Task lists

NOMAD is available for download through WebWirelessNow™ web site or by licensing the service directly from Xypoint.
