Cerulean and Sunpro Team to Offer Fire and Rescue Services Wireless Access to RMS Info

Cerulean Technology, Inc. and Sunpro have entered into a partnership to wirelessly link on-the-scene firefighters and emergency medical service (EMS) teams with critical information. Under the terms of the partnership, Cerulean’s PacketCluster® Rescue ™ will be integrated with Sunpro FireRMS 5.0 information management software to provide field workers with real-time, two-way access to in-house fire and rescue data.

The PacketCluster Rescue for FireRMS 5.0 will enable firefighters and rescue workers to access vital emergency information from wireless mobile computers, based in responding engines, ladder trucks, supervisory and emergency vehicles, or from handhelds such as the Palm.

The Cerulean/Sunpro solution will enable firefighters and rescue workers, while enroute to the accident scene, to access the following information:

  • Availability of on-duty and EMS personnel
  • Occupancy information such as building construction and property
  • Preventive systems, including alarms, sprinkler systems, and most recent system inspection dates

A prototype of the integrated solution using a Palm Vx handheld device will be demonstrated at Fire Rescue International 2000. The PacketCluster Rescue for FireRMS 5.0 is expected to be available within two months.

Mobileinfo Comments and Advisory: This is an old application adopted for new hardware. We wonder whether PalmVx is the ideal device. User will determine its success. But any device is better than no device. One note to vendors - keep the application open for multiple devices. Let your users determine which device is more suitable for their application.
