Afaria Selected to Manage Laptops for Major Medical Supply Company

XcelleNet, Inc. announced that Medline Industries, Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of medical supplies and equipment, has selected its Afaria™ Solution to manage laptops for the medical supplier’s national sales force.

Medline’s sales force will use Afaria

  • As the management infrastructure to support applications on laptops, such as its critical customer relationship application
  • As a content management tool for notably sales orders and delivery status
  • To track hardware and software inventory on each laptop
  • To provide software delivery and updates and troubleshooting capabilities for each system

"Medline selected Afaria because it proved to be the easiest product to implement and use while demonstrating its ability to manage the widest spectrum of mobile resources," said Andy Mills, President of Medline.

In addition, Afaria’s highly-scalable architecture allows organizations, such as Medline, to expand their mobile-based business solutions to include a wide range of mobile platforms and to operate over both wireless and wireline networks.

Mobileinfo Comments and Advisory: Xcellenet has a lot of experience in managing mobile devices. They were leaders with client-agent-server architecture that is conceptually superior on desktop devices. Even today's thin mobile devices should have an agent collecting information for management. Number of healthcare vendor sales force carrying mobile devices will mushroom in future. While these medical salespersons advise doctors about new drugs, let Afaria manage their mobile devices.

Note: This news release may contain forward-looking statements. Readers should take appropriate caution in developing plans utilizing these products, services and technology architectures.
