Ansyr Technology Unveils PDR Reader App for Palm OS

For Palm users, Ansyr Technology Corporation has expanded its Primer family of PDF viewer software to now include Palm OS handheld computers. Initially, the company only offered Primer for Windows CE and PocketPC. Primer captures PDF files and pages, from catalogs and manuals to client records and plans/drawings, that are then sent to a mobile device for viewing anywhere, anytime. In addition, the software has the ability to encrypt fields using standard levels of PDF password protection.

Features of Primer for Palm OS v1.3

  • Management: Palm users can select the pages or documents to be sent to their Palm devices.
  • Preservation: According to the company, Primer is the only PDF viewer that fully supports the PDF standard, accurately preserving the formatting, graphics, and text of each document.
  • Graphics: Unlike conventional viewers that can only display the text, Primer has a unique selectable graphic feature that lets the user view all graphical elements, pictures, photos, diagrams, and drawings.
  • Optimization: For Palm devices with limited memory, Primer offers Flexible Memory Optimizer which gives the user the option of transferring text only.

Primer of Palm supports Palm III, Palm IIIxe, Palm Vx, Palm VIIx, and Handspring Visor.

Mobileinfo Comments and Advisory: There is value in making PDF files and catalogs available on mobile devices especially on those devices that have enough storage to carry this information. We strongly suggest that they should refresh this information through synch cradles or wireline networks. Wireless is too thin for PDF files.
