2000 - 32 (Sept. 2000) PRODUCTS, SERVICES & APPLICATIONS GoAmerica, Metricom Announce Agreement Following its recent agreements with Hewlett Packard, Dell, Electronic Data Systems, and Oracle, GoAmerica, Inc. has also announced that it has entered into an agreement with Metricom, Inc. to offer its business customers Ricochet™, Metricom’s high-speed mobile access solution. Customers who select the high-speed access option will gain wireless access to corporate data and the Internet at an end-user speed of 128 kbps. GoAmerica will integrate its Go.Web™ encryption and compression technology with the Ricochet offering to create a "best of the breed" solution. The two companies will jointly develop marketing programs aimed at introducing Ricochet to corporation customers in major U.S. cities. Currently, Metricom is deploying MicroCellular Data Network (MCDN) technology, which forms the foundation for Ricochet, at raw data rates of 1Mbps. The network is under active deployment in 21 major U.S. markets, and Ricochet is currently available in Atlanta and San Diego.
