Nortel Networks Licenses Certicom’s ECC to Enable VPN Products

As the corporate sector becomes increasingly dependent on a host of different types of Web-enabled devices, the challenge of ensuring the secure access to corporate data and transactions becomes a high-priority. To address this critical issue, Nortel Networks has entered a licensing agreement with Certicom.

Under the terms of the agreement, Nortel Networks will license Certicom’s Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) for use in its Connectivity line of VPN products. By doing so, users equipped with an IP-enabled device loaded with the Certicom VPN client will be ensured of secure access to corporate intranets using Nortel Network VPN products.

The Certicom Handheld VPN Client:

  • Supports multiple platforms with "preferred VPN industry standards" for a variety of mobile and wireless devices
  • Supports a wide range of encryption algorithms, enabling interoperability with the existing VPN products
  • Includes ECC for the next generation of mobile VPN
