Coca-Cola Teams with go2Systems to Provide Location-Based Services to Food Service Customers

Anticipating that Americans will embrace the wireless Web like they have its wired cousin, the Cola-Cola Company has entered into a five-year alliance with go2Systems, Inc. to provide its foundation customers, some of the largest, American restaurant franchises, with location-based services.

Go2System’s patented location-based directory technology functions like a search engine for Web-enabled devices. Subscribers to some of the largest wireless network services, including Verizon Wireless, Sprint PCS, Nextel, BellSouth Mobility, can locate the nearest restaurants with their pager, PDA or smartphone. Besides being informed of the location of the nearest restaurant, user will receive driving directions, one-click calling, a suite of wireless specials, coupons and discounts, which will soon be followed by m-commerce capabilities.

The cola company will have its food service customers added to go2System’s existing customer database. By doing so, Coca-Cola hopes to assist its foundation customers in growing their food and beverage sales through promotion and m-commerce, said Tom Moore, senior vice-president and general manager of Coca-Cola Foundation.

Coca-Cola’s food services customers will join go2Systems’ growing location-based directory , with the likes of Jiffy Lube, Ramada, GNC, and Jamba Juice.

MobileInfo Comments and Advisory: We welcome this initiative of Coca Cola.  Because of their size and superior marketing skills, Coca-Cola can make location-based applications succeed. Only one cautionary note from MobileInfo - sweetness of success will come slowly and gradually when effervescence of the current hype has evaporated.
