Motorola and Oracle Unveil Blueprint for Wireless E-business Apps.

To address the challenges facing wireless carriers, Internet service providers, and application vendors seeking to implement and deploy mobile e-business applications to a growing wireless Internet market, Motorola, Inc. and Oracle Corporation have released the MobileBlueprint Version 1.0.

Motorola and Oracle have combined their area of expertise, Internet wireless technology and Internet software, respectively, to provide a systemic framework for customers not only to deliver existing e-business applications to a broader wireless market, but also to create new e-business applications, while reducing cost and time to market.

MobileBluePrint will help industry players to create an open-standards UNIX-based platform for wireless applications with the security, reliability, and scalability associated with Motorola and Oracles technologies, said the companies.

MobileBlueprint Version 1.0 uses five key components.

  • WAP and Voice Server Interoperability Validation
  • Comprises of Motorola’s WAP and Voice Servers with Oracle9iT Application Server Wireless Edition
  • Expected to be completed in early 2001

The following may be made available by the summer of 2001:

  • Wireless Internet Platform
  • Integrate key elements of Motorola’s Mobile Internet ExchangeT (MIXT), including WAP and Voice Servers, TrueSyncT SyncML Server, and the Operations, Administration & Maintenance (OA&M) core
  • Oracle9i AS Wireless Edition, including Oracle8iT Database and Oracle® Internet Directory
  • Application development environment
  • Configuration/deployment guideline
  • System requirements
