WaveLink Releases Java Library for Wireless App Development

Continuing in its effort to develop wireless solutions that are hardware independent and run on any wireless device and operating system, WaveLink Corporation has released its new Java library that enables developers to create wireless LAN applications running on PocketPC, Palm OS, and DOS wireless devices. Native Java applications can be created using WaveLink wireless software platform.

"Our solutions provide enterprises with a fundamentally different approach to developing and deploying wireless applications by giving the CIO power to design customized applications for a specific organization," says Robert Whelan, president and CEO of WaveLink.

WaveLink’s Java Library

  • Enables developers to create wireless applications quickly in a language familiar to them.
  • Allows for the writing of server-side applications running on most Unix types including Sun Solaris, HP/UX, AIX, Linux as well as Windows NT/2000.
  • Provides full support of Widgets (graphical interface objects such as buttons and pull-down menus) for Palm OS and Windows CE wireless devices.

The company claims that its server-side application model is ideal for real-time wireless applications for a number of reasons.

  • Server-side applications are not restricted by wireless device memory constraints.
  • The design provides for one-stop application revisions and upgrades. It is not necessary to revise an application on each device.
  • The model includes up-to-the-second accuracy, server-side data integration, and preserved processing power on the device.
