2000 - 34 (Sept. 2000) TECHNOLOGY Ericsson, Wind River Sign Worldwide Pact for Bluetooth Integration To capitalize on the momentum of Bluetooth technology, as it may be the fastest growing de facto communication standard ever, Ericsson Mobile Communications AB and Wind River Systems, Inc. have agreed to integrate Ericsson’s Bluetooth technology into Wind River’s embedded development software. The agreement will allow OEMs to integrate Bluetooth technology within their own embedded applications. The technology would benefit such end-user devices as mobile phones, Internet appliances, digital still cameras, medical monitoring devices, and car information systems. Ericsson’s Bluetooth HOST Stack and related development tools for testing and verification will be integrated with Wind River’s operating systems and Tornado integrated development environment. Wind River will market the Bluetooth HOST Stack and development tools from Ericsson as a complete solution. It will be available within the next three months.
