InnTechnology and Las Vegas Hotel Showcase Bluetooth Hospitality Service

To enhance customer service, especially for the business traveler, Inn Technology and the Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino, in Las Vegas, have partnered with other wireless vendors to showcase soon-to-be available wireless guest amenities, based on Bluetooth technology. Live demonstrations will be staged during the Fall Comdex 2000.

The demonstrations will showcase real-world Bluetooth applications such as

  • Automated Guest Check-In will use a Handspring Visor Deluxe PDA equipped with a BlueConnect™ expansion module by WIDCOMM and Bluetooth Access Points by TROY XCD.
  • Control Door Link Access via the Visor will provide directions to the specified guestroom and act as a virtual key, unlocking the room door via Bluetooth radio link.
  • Wireless File Transfer between the Visor and an IBM ThinkPad T20 series, equipped with a Bluetooth PC card.
  • IN-Room Wireless Printing will use a HP OfficeJet 520 multifunction printer/fax/scanner/copier via Bluetooth technology.
  • Billing of all Services to the guest’s folio will processed through an interface with the Hotel’s Property Management System.

InnTechnology has been responsible for designing and integrating the Bluetooth solution. In addition, the company will provide the central server and software to manage the different devices delivering the wireless amenities.

Besides InnTechnology, the other wireless vendors participating in the demonstration include IBM; Texas Instruments; WIDOMM; Handspring; TROY XCD; Bachmann Software, and Hewlett-Packet Co.
