Zucotto Wireless Launches Whiteboard Software Development Kit

Zucotto Wireless is one of the first to pass Sun Microsystems Test Compatibility Kit (TCK), specifically the Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) 1.0 and the Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) 1.0 test suites. According to the company, these Java technology APIs and configurations provide a complete J2ME™ application runtime environment targeted at mobile data devices.

After obtaining certification, Zucotto launched its free wireless development environment and tools for Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME) technology. The Whiteboard Software Development Kit (SDK) can be downloaded from the company’s Web site for the development of applications and services for the next generation of wireless devices.

"Now certified, we feel that we can offer developers the tools they need to design and test MIDP-compliant applications before the hardware is actually available," said Louanne Capello, product manager for Zucotto Wireless. "The Whiteboard SDK will serve developers targeting wireless Java-based devices, including high-performance products using Zucotto’s Xpresso™ feature processors and microcontrollers, she added.

Zucotto also offers the Whiteboard SDK Bluetooth™ Edition, a development kit to extend Bluetooth functionality to wireless Java technology application development. It includes the Whiteboard SDK Standard Edition plus two Bluetooth communications boards, a Bluetooth software stack, and a Java developer API for Bluetooth technology.
