OmniSky Releases Corporate Wireless E-Mail Solution

Mobile operator OmniSky is determined to make access to corporate e-mail hassle-free. The Palo Alto, California company has released its OS CorporateLink ™software that enables mobile professionals to securely access corporate e-mail via their mobile device. Running on Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0, OS CorporateLink software is easy to install on a Windows-based PC running Microsoft Outlook 98 or Microsoft Outlook 2000 e-mail applications.

Features of the Os CorporateLink Software

  • All e-mail messages received and sent remain in the Microsoft Outlook Inbox and Outbox, making it ideal for archiving.
  • E-mail messages retain their look regardless of the viewing device, a PC or a handheld.
  • Microsoft Filter Wizard can be used to selectively redirect corporate e-mail. For example, critical e-mail can be directed to the mobile device while other messages can wait to be opened when the user returns to the office.
  • Microsoft Outlook calendar and contact information can be accessed wirelessly.
  • Five POP3 e-mail accounts can be accessed using a mobile device.

In a related announcement, OmniSky said that mobile professionals can now access their wireless services, including corporate e-mail, using the newly released HandSpring ultra-thin <Visor Edge> handheld computer. This, of course, is in addition to the host of other leading handheld devices from Handspring, HP, Palm, and Compaq.
