Ubiquio Partners with XcelleNet to Offer Handheld Device Management

Handheld service provider Ubiquio™ Corporation has partnered with XcelleNet, Inc. to offer its customers in such vertical markets as healthcare with an outsourced mobile device management solution.

XcelleNet’s flagship product Afaria™ provides companies with a solution for managing large numbers of mobile devices, including laptops, PocketPCs, Palm handhelds, RIM Blackberry handhelds, and Symbian smartphones. Enterprises can take advantage of systems management capabilities including software deployment, hardware and software asset tracking, information exchange, and system backup to mobile devices.

Ubiquio offers its customers the requirements to deploy mission-critical applications, integrate middleware hosting, lifecycle support, and a provisioning of services. Now combined with Afaria, Ubiquio can offer a comprehensive package covering the deployment and ongoing management of mobile applications and data all hosted by the same vendor.

With the proliferation of devices, operating systems, and connectivity technologies, enterprises committed to the delivery of critical applications via handhelds face the challenge of managing all their resources, said Charles Lukaszewski, CEO of Ubiquio. "We’ve selected XcelleNet’s Afaria because it provides a common denominator, allowing Ubiquio to deliver a consistent mobile infrastructure solution regardless" of the devices or network used, he explained.

The combined solution will allow enterprise customers to have better control over the cost of deploying and maintaining fleets of handheld devices and improved productivity in the field, the companies said in a joint statement.
