Ericsson Unveils Range of New Phones at CeBIT
Swedish mobile-phone maker
Ericsson unveiled three new phones at this year’s CeBIT in Hanover,
Germany. Sporting smoother shapes and unique features, Ericsson hopes that
these handsets, T68, T39 and T29, will challenge the competition.
Features of the New Handsets
- The T68
features a large 256 color display, Multimedia Messaging
Service (MMS), digital imaging and audio capabilities, GSM and GPRS
frequencies, built-in Bluetooth, and HSCSD
- The T39
also a GPRS–enabled mobile phone that works on GSM
frequencies, as well as high-speed circuit-switched networks
- The T29
features Enhanced Messaging Service (EMS) for sending
pictures and sound to other mobile phones, as well as a mobile chat and
WAP1.1.
The EMS utilizes the existing messaging service and infrastructure to let
users exchange pictures, and ring signals. Unlike similar technologies, EMS
is an open standard enabling EMS messages to be read on phones that do not
support EMS.
Ericsson expects the phones to be released by the end of this year.
