Pumatech Offers New ASP
Pumatech, Inc. has introduced its
Intellisync.com service, as a mobile ASP.
The new Intellisync service will offer enterprises large and small all
the advantages of hosted access to its Mobile Application Platform (MAP),
enabling mobile workers to keep information current across all mobile
devices and desktop PCs.
The Intellisync Web service comprises of the following key services:
- Sync-it: The synchronization of data across a host of Web-enabled
machines from Palm OS handhelds to home PCs to office laptops, using any
type of Web connection
- Browser-it: Users can view the entire Web in real time or off-line
using Browse-it Snapshot, a Web clipping program.
- Mind-it: Specific Web content, from a competitor’s new releases to
the company’s stock price, can be tracked and users can be notified
via e-mail of any changes.
As an introductory offer, the ASP service will be offered free of charge.
In the late spring, Intellisync.com will be converted to a subscription
model and users will be offered various subscription-based service options,
the company said.

Mobileinfo Comments and
Advisory: Race for consumer synchronization
services became hotter with Pumatech getting into the arena. We see
several strong players - Synchrologic, fusionOne and Pumatech. Synchrologic
should do well in the enterprise space. fusionOne is going after the consumer,
encouraging wireless portals and NSPs to offer synchronization services under
their own brand name. Pumatech was among the first companies to develop the
technology, has a loyal customer base and a good brand - it will do well
in this space.
