Sabre Partners with BlueTags to Deliver eBaggage Tracking Solution
Sabre Holdings Corporation of Fort
Worth, Texas, has entered into a partnership with the Danish company
BlueTags to deliver an advanced eBaggage Tracking Solution for the travel
industry. The solution is described as a wireless tag that promises to
provide travelers and travel suppliers the ability to track luggage in a
secure, efficient, and reliable manner.
Based on Bluetooth and radio frequency identification (RFID)
technologies, the wireless tag can store a user’s entire travel itinerary
and be attached to any bag. The traveler can electronically check their bag
with the airline using a special scanner. Then once arrived at their
destination, they will receive a text message via their wireless or
Web-enabled device with information as to the location of their bag. In
addition, the traveler will receive an instant alert if their baggage is
leaving or entering a predefined range determined by them.
The companies will make the new eBaggage Tracking Solution available
during the fourth quarter of this year.
