Nokia 9210 Communicator Gets Lotus Mobile Notes
In a joint statement Nokia
and IBM’s Lotus Development Corp. announced plans to deliver Lotus
Mobile Notes™ to users of Nokia 9210 Communicator.
Users of the 9210 Communicator with Lotus Mobile Notes will have
access to e-mail, calendars and address books applications.
With high-data transmission speeds of up to 43.4 kbps along with
Lotus Notes, the Nokia 9210 Communicator will allow mobile workers
to conduct business in new ways. For example, mobile employees will
be able to complete forms; participate in workflows; access sales
force automation tools; or run interactive applications on their
mobile device.
The two companies foresee this offering opening up exciting
opportunities for utilizing existing information management systems
across open interfaces such as WAP, IMAP and SyncML.
Lotus Mobile Communication’s senior director Robert Norton told
MBizCentral, "Beginning in the second quarter, you’ll be able
to use the browser on these phones to browse Domino mail and
databases. In the third quarter, you’ll use the Notes software to
sync mail straight to the device."
