Broadbeam and Everypath Partner to Offer Comprehensive Wireless Solution

Wireless application service provider Broadbeam has announced that Everypath will include Broadbeam’s technology into its Mobile Application Platform™ to offer customers a comprehensive solution.

Broadbeam’s mobile computing messaging infrastructure will be incorporated into Everypath’s store-and-forward frameworks, which is a key component of Everypath Mobile Application Platform. The platform provides the ability to rapidly mobilize existing enterprise data and applications to virtually all wireless, broadband, and voice devices.

Commenting on the solution, Prakash Iyer, chief technology officer at Everypath, said, "Enterprises are looking for a comprehensive solution to their mobile computing needs and this agreement [with Broadbeam] positions us to meet that need with a best-of-breed solution for both interactive and off-line requirements."

With Broadbeam’s store-and-forward technology, Everypath’s customers can be assured that their mobile workers will never miss a message. If a message is sent while the user is out of coverage, the information will be temporarily stored and then accessed when the user re-enters the coverage area. In addition, the technology supports real-time interactive communication when both sender and recipient are connected, where messaging can be initiated from either the client or server.

These features are ideal for users who frequently experience temporary coverage holes, battery failures, or powered off devices. Furthermore, users can take advantage of such features as queuing up messages on their device, making the application operable even when out of coverage. For example, a courier could capture a customer’s signature on a wireless device even if there is no wireless coverage in the building.

Mobileinfo Comments and Advisory: This is a good partnership between a wireless middleware expert and an application developer - a union that is required for every successful application.  Persistent messaging functionality in Broadbeam's middleware is an important requirement for high transaction rate m-commerce applications.
