Releases Report on Mobile Phones and Health Issues
Sen. Joseph Lieberman (D-Conn.) and Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.)
released a GAO report that found that though research to date does
not show radio frequency energy emitted from mobile phones to have
adverse health effects, more study is required. (CNN.com)
"Today's GAO Report reflects what the public health experts
have said: that the science to date shows no adverse health effects
from the use of wireless phones. As an industry, we concur with the
report's conclusions that further research is needed. Hence, we have
entered into an agreement with the FDA to pursue additional
research," said Tom Wheeler, president and CEO of the Cellular
Telecommunications & Internet Association, in a statement.
