GM Launches Wireless Health Care Pilot
More than four months after announcing its initiative to promote
the use of handheld devices among physicians, General Motors
launched the first pilot phase of its wireless health care
initiative. GM and health care vendor Medscape will provide
physicians in Shreveport, La., and Oklahoma City who treat GM
employees with a PalmVx, a printer, and a prescription-writing
system free of charge. The companies will also offer Medscape's
digital health record system, Logician, at a discount, although
officials wouldn't reveal the amount.
