Florida’s Natural Growers Choose Intermec's rugged computer for Wireless Solution
When it came to automating
its data collection system to include all four of its locations,
Florida's Natural Growers based in West Wales, Florida, chose
Intermec Technologies Corp. to provide a comprehensive wireless
solution.
Florida's Natural Growers, a consortium of 12 organizations
representing 1,100 individual growers, required a solution that
would provide it with supply chain management expertise and rugged
equipment. "Florida Natural Growers ships millions of cases of
juice annually," said Jesse Westburgh, manager of warehousing
and distribution for the Consortium. "We operate out of dry,
chilled and frozen warehouses in a climate where humidity levels
often are more than 90 percent."
Intermec's Wireless Solution
- Intermec 2455 vehicle-mounted computers feature industrial
casing for shock, temperature, and environment protection and
support 2.4 GHz wireless communications. Its two-piece design
allows operators to use the display and keyboard separately or
as one unit.
- Intermec 2425 handhelds computers, with its 2.5 GHz radio,
offer flexible connectivity choices as well as a large, high
contrast display.
- EasyCoder 3400 bar code printers are built for the most rugged
conditions.
- MobileLAN 2100 access points are specifically designed to
provide reliable wireless communications in industrial
environments.
- Intermec 1553 bar code scanners can scan at distances ranging
from four inches to 35 feet.
Florida's Natural Growers was not just buying equipment but
investing in a data collection system that would propel their
business to the next level, said Jim Paulson, the Consortium’s
senior manager of IT.
