Wayport Expands Portfolio of Wireless LAN Hotspots
Having built a portfolio comprising of over 400 hotel and airport
wireless LAN hotspots, Wayport
Inc. of Austin, Texas, said it has acquired nine Laptop Lane
locations.
These high-profile Laptop Lane business centers will join Wayport’s
four existing airport locations, including Dallas-Fort Worth
International and San Jose International, expanding its airport
footprint and lineup of airport business services.
To be branded under the Wayport name, these business centers will
provide business travelers with critical on-site business services,
including private offices and meeting rooms equipped with high-speed
Internet connectivity at speeds of up to 50 times faster than
standard modems, the company said. In addition, business travelers
will be able to take advantage of such services as long distance and
conference calling, printer, fax and copier access as well as
overnight packaging and shipping.
"The Laptop Lane Business Centers we've chosen to acquire
are in some of the world's busiest airports. And, because they are
in a high traffic, convenient locations with a strong business model
already in place, this is a perfect fit to our strategy, " said
Dave Vucina, CEO of Wayport.
Under the terms agreement, Wayport will acquire the following
Laptop Lane locations:
- Three at Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport
- Two at Chicago O'Hare International Airport
- One at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport
- One at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport
- One at New York's LaGuardia International Airport
- One at Salt Lake City International Airport
Upon completion of the acquisition, Wayport will provide services
at 11 airports locations within eight major-market airports, the
company said.
