America's Largest Municipally-Owned Utility Turns to MDSI

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), the largest municipally-owned utility in the U.S., has turned to Vancouver-based MDSI to help manage field force operations.

MDSI's Advantex r7 will be implemented to manage the work of approximately 200 field service workers in the Los Angeles area, including field service, collections, field investigations and revenue security.

In the field, workers will interact with Advantex using any number of mobile devices operating over AT&T Wireless' CDPD network. Field workers and the dispatch center can be guaranteed that they will have up-to-the-minute information to effectively monitor, manage and execute field service operations, MDSI said.

Advantex r7 Components of LADWP Implementation

  • Appointment scheduling
  • Real-time map-based dispatching
  • Optimized work order assignments
  • Integrated global positioning and reporting tools

To ensure that all customer service representatives have access to real-time data, Advantex will be integrated with Los Angeles Department of Water and Power's proprietary customer information system.

Mobileinfo Comments & Advisory:  MDSI has been in field force automation business for some time. It has implemented Advantex system in many customer sites. It is fitting, therefore, for it to be awarded this contract by Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
