Motorola Introduces First CDMA 1x
Mobile Phone in U.S.
Motorola’s CDMA handset portfolio
keeps growing and growing. The latest addition, the 120x, is the first
CDMA 1x handset for the American market.
With its advanced phonebook and scheduling features along with
messaging and gaming, the handset is being promoted as ‘the work and
play’ device, for under a $100.’
Besides supporting data transfer speeds of up to 153 kbps, Motorola
has crammed the 120x with the most up-to-date features, including a
WAP browser, SMS, games, voice dialing, and an optional clip-on MP3
players.
"The 120x is an exciting addition to our portfolio, providing
a multi-functional tool for consumers who want reliable mobile phone
functionality and a wireless music solution with the simple addition
of the optional MP3 accessory," said Ron Garriques, Senior Vice
President, Personal Communications Sector, Motorola.
For wireless vendors that are planning to launch CDMA 1x networks,
as Sprint PCS is planning to do in the coming months, the 120x handset
will enable them to increase voice capacity, Garriques said.
