End2End Receives $14.1-Million
From HP
Danish mobile application infrastructure provider End2End has
secured $14.1-million in its second round of financing from
Hewlett-Packard. HP’s investment is in addition to the
$13.2-million from DB Capital Venture Partners, which is the private
equity arm of Deutsche Bank.
This financing will enable the Copenhagen-based company to
continue to build out its data centers to host, manage and deliver a
range of data solutions to wireless network operators, including
One2One, Sonofon, and Telia DK.
In October 2000, HP along with the Deutsche Bank and Cisco
Holdings provided a total of $110-million in vendor financing. Cisco
chose not to participate in the second round of financing.
The American company is looking to End2End to fuel its wireless
strategy to develop mobile e-services through initiatives such as
the HP Mobile e-Services Bazaar.
"Key to the HP vision of mobility is the proliferation of
mobile e-services and our renewed commitment to End2End demonstrates
the strength of this belief and our confidence in End2End’s
business strategy," said Alex Hawker, general manager of HP
Network & Service Provider Business, Western Europe.

Mobileinfo Comments & Advisory: End2End
has an interesting business model. Aggregation of mobile services for
the consumer and managing them on behalf of operators who truly do not
have the expertise is a viable space. It is not easy to make money in
the short term. Look at Exodus in the fixed wireline space. Hp, please
be patient and stand by your investment.
