Cingular Lends a Hand to Honeywell
to Improve Customer Response
Cingular Wireless said it will help Honeywell business unit
implement a wireless data solution to boost productivity and enhance
customer service.
Working along with Cingular’s Professional Services Group,
Honeywell’s Automation & Control Solutions (ACS) Service
developed the solution that will mean fewer administrative steps,
quicker access to vital customer information, enhanced field service
communication, and faster customer response times.
Under Honeywell’s Field Automation Service Technology (FAST)
initiative, the ACS Service is equipping 1,400 building services
technicians with Windows-CE-enabled wireless handhelds running over
Cingular’s nationwide wireless packet data network Mobitex network.
The complete deployment of the FAST solution is expected by early
2002.
How the FAST Solution Works
- Honeywell’s centralized dispatch center will dispatch customer
calls directly to the technician’s handheld device.
- The technician immediately receives the customer’s equipment
information and service contract data.
- Once the service call is completed, the technician wirelessly
sends the completed work order to Honeywell databases for
invoicing, data mining, and history availability.
"The FAST initiative is part of Honeywell’s ongoing efforts
to apply digitization to our processes to boost employee productivity
and improve customer service quality," said Paul Danielson,
manager, Honeywell ACS Process and Technology.
