Sprint Makes a Splash with 3G Road
Show
While the athletes will be
flying into Olympic Village in Salt Lake City, Utah, Sprint will be
just 45-minutes away in Park City rolling out its traveling caravan
of 3G technology.
Visitors can enter a 53-foot mobile showcase, dubbed ‘The Third
Generation Experience, for a glimpse into the world of 3G
technology. Through a variety of interactive kiosks, devices and
live demonstrations, on everything from e-mail to the wireless Web,
consumers and businesses alike can experience the latest 3G
applications and services, more or less an introductory course for
Sprint’s 3G services scheduled for this summer.
Traveling along the Third Generation Experience will be Sprint
E/Solutions E/Bus, which is an Applied Technology Center on wheels,
showing many of Sprint’s technology solutions. On board, visitors
will have complete access to the wireless Web and daily business
applications.
"With the mobile showcase, Sprint is bringing 3G to life and
demonstrating that a wireless device is much more than just a cool
phone for talking and e-mail," said Charles Levine, president
of Sprint PCS division. "In addition to making crystal clear
calls, businesses and consumers will be able to use 3G to get faster
and better services, everything from messaging to digital imaging,
streaming video and games."
Sprint’s caravan will travel across the country, stopping in
approximately 35 cities.

Mobileinfo Comments & Advisory: Sprint
has shown leadership in a number of ways. We give them kudos for making
less noise and doing more and faster. Its 1xRTT CDMA network will be up
and running in most parts of USA by mid 2002, give or take a few months.
Secondly, it is showing and telling by taking the van to the customer.
This is good marketing.
