McDonald’s and Disney Launch
Mobile Marketing Campaign
Two international icons
McDonald’s and Disney have launched what they deem to be the
largest U.K. retail mobile campaign yet, all in an effort to promote
the Disney movie ‘Monsters Inc.’
To reach the widest possible audience, the four-week campaign
uses SMS technology in conjunction with in-store promotions taking
place in 1,200 McDonald’s outlets as well as television
advertisements.
McDonald’s customers will be encouraged to order ‘large fries’
in order to have a chance to win a prize. All large packets of fries
will have a peel-off sticker displaying a code and text-number,
which customers can send via SMS or through the textamonster.co.uk
Web site for a chance to win a prize.
Mobile marketing company 12Snap and digital medium firm
Netdecisions worked with McDonald’s and Disney to launch the
campaign.
Anne de Kerckhove, managing director of 12Snap, believes that the
support of these two international bands will spur the uptake of
mobile marketing. "This is a huge leap forward for the mobile
medium and demonstrates the growing recognition of mobile marketing
as an essential tool by retail brands," she said.
