Nokia Unveils GPRS/802.11b PC Card
Now notebook users have a
variety of options for wireless Web connectivity, Nokia said at the
launch of its GPRS/802.11b PC card.
The D211, a multimode PC card, extends personal mobility further
with remote access to corporate services, said Nigel Rundstrom, vice
president for strategic marketing in Asia Pacific. "Users will
need only one device for mobile data services and e-mail, but will
have more options for connecting to the Internet and the company
intranet."
Features of Nokia’s D211 PC Card
- Compatible with GSM 900/1800 networks
- Delivers transmission speeds of up to 40.2 kbps using GPRS and
43.2 kbps with HSCSD (High Speed Circuit Switched Data)
- Offers up to 11 mbps in wireless LAN environments with IEEE
802.11b compatibility
- Supports portable devices with a type II PC card slot
- Operates in Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000, XP, Windows CE 3.0 and
Linux systems
- The D211 will be released commercially in the second quarter
of 2002.
