AvantGo’s New Sales Force
Automation Application Caters
to Pharmaceutical Industry
Provider of mobile
enterprise application services, AvantGo, Inc. has unveiled a mobile sales force
automation application — Mobile Pharma — designed to meet the needs of the pharmaceutical industry.
The mobile application provides sales representatives with the
following:
- Immediate access to their existing sales force automation
system, product and clinical data, prescription distribution
data, corporate intranet, and the Internet
- Alerts, which are pushed to their device
- Ability to capture information directly at the point of
activity
According to AvantGo’s CEO Richard Owen, "Mobile Pharma
meets the needs of the pharmaceutical companies as it enables them
to improve the quality of their interactions with physicians, while
at the same time improving their bottom line."
The new application can run on any readily available handheld
device on the market, including Microsoft PocketPCs, Research in
Motion’s BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds and Palm OS-based devices.
In addition, it complements existing sales force automation systems
like Siebel and Dendrite.

Mobileinfo Comments & Advisory: Pharmaceutical
sales people are highly mobile and need access to lot of product data on
their handheld devices. Mobile Pharma will help those companies that
want to outsource this to a wireless ASP which is what AvantGo is. It is
indeed a useful channel for the pharmaceutical industry.
