Sony Ericsson Unveils its First
Portfolio of Wireless Products
Sony Ericsson Mobile
Communications has unveiled its first significant new portfolio of
wireless devices as a merged company.
Of the six new devices showcased, the P800 is attracting the most
attention. Based on Symbian’s latest OS, which supports Java
applications, MMS and Web browsing, the P800 promises users a
complete entrée of advanced features.
For instance, with the P800 it is possible to take digital
pictures, view them on the 208 x 320 pixel color screen, store them
in the photo album and send them as an e-mail to a PC or as an
MMS-message to another phone. In addition, the handset allows the
user to download and view video clips, such as a sequence from a
sports event, music video or movie trailer.

- UIQ pen-based user interface
- Brower for accessing i-mode and WAP content
- GSM 900/1800/1900
- Bluetooth wireless technology for connecting to
Bluetooth-enabled gadgets
The company also showcased the Z700, a color screen handset with
Java, Bluetooth, polyphonic ring tones, GPRS and games the likes of
‘Men In Black’ and ‘Charlie’s Angels.’ Obviously, the
Z700, packed full of pop culture content, is targeted at the youth
market.
Rounding out the Sony Ericsson portfolio are
- The T206 Java handset for CDMA 1x markets,
- The GC75 tri-band GPRS PC Card modem,
- HBH-30 and HCB-30 Bluetooth hands-free kits,
- The T62u GAIT GSM/TDMA handset,
- The T61g GPRS model for the U.S. market and
- The T68i with CommuniCam MCA20, an enhanced version of the
T68.
