GlobalDining Expands Distribution with
Nextel Online Wireless Internet Service
BOULDER, CO, March 4, 2002 - GlobalDining, the world's largest and most
comprehensive Internet directory of restaurants combined with a global
wireless reservations network, today announced the launch of their location-based mobile restaurant directory and reservation network with Nextel Communications, Inc. The GlobalDining restaurant directory is now available and the wireless reservation application is soon to be available through the Nextel Online Wireless Internet Service and Nextel phones.
Now Nextel's mobile professionals and consumers can locate their favorite restaurants by searching GlobalDining's database of over 500,000 restaurants worldwide. Once a user selects a restaurant from the directory, a single touch connects the user to the restaurant. Detailed information about the restaurant, including walking or driving directions, cuisine types, and special features, is also available. In the near future, through GlobalDining's reservation rating technology, Nextel customers will be able to make wireless restaurant reservations and also help solve the "no show" problem for restaurants and the "late-Table" problem for themselves.
GlobalDining CEO Jim Nardulli said, "GlobalDining is providing powerful marketing tools that are straightforward and easy to use to restaurateurs everywhere. We offer consumers a content rich restaurant directory, complete with wireless reservation capability."
Nextel's leadership in wireless data led GlobalDining to launch first on the Nextel Online Wireless Internet Service. "We are delighted to be
associated with such a leader," said Nardulli.
"GlobalDining provides restaurants with the ability to reach and interact with Nextel's mobile Internet customers," said Tim Dunne, vice president of business development. "Because GlobalDining establishes a direct relationship with individual restaurants, their content is rich, dynamic and accurate - which makes their service much more useful and satisfying for Nextel customers."
GlobalDining is available on the Internet at www.globaldining.com and its wireless, mobile Internet directory and reservation service is also delivered globally in cooperation with Motorola, Nokia, Nextel, Palm,
XYPoint, and others in the US and Europe.
